This Ginger Has Soul

For as long as anyone can remember, soul music has always been stereotyped as black-dominated genre. However, it is not entirely uncommon to hear a white person sing in this style. Vocalist Jonny Craig of the post-hardcore group Dance Gavin Dance (as well as once the vocalist of another group, Emarosa) has impressed some critics with his soul-based singing. Jonny Craig is a Canadian born man, whose mullet is quite a site to see during his performances. He is also quite artistic when it comes to his lyrics. Jonny, even through the most abrasive breakdowns of his songs, always is able to pull of a sort of voice that is reminiscent to the likes of Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye or others. Some critics and fans alike can safely say that his voice is quite angelic and soothing. Now, when it comes to style, Jonny can be seen in a sort of hipster/tough guy attire during his performances with his group, and he also carries a few tattoos on both arms. But none are as interesting as his great orange mullet which glows in the lights, be it day or night, and bounces a bit as he walks and dances throughout the show. Jokingly labeled as a "ginger" for being a white man with orange hair, Jonny is one such vocalist worth giving a listen.  I never met him personally, but i knew right away he would be an interesting character to write about. c:
